Mr. James "Woody" Davis, 91 of
Southport, Florida went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 16, 2026. He was born on April 29, 1934 in Avera, Mississippi. As a young man, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years and the Reserves for two years. He was a gentle, quiet and kindhearted man who reflected God's grace in his life and had an unwavering love for his family. Woody attended and was a member of Central Pentecostal Ministries. He was loved and respected by many.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Davis; His father, James Wilson Davis, his mother, Clima Roberts Davis, and two brothers, Pete Davis and Bob Davis.
Those left to cherish his memory includes his four children, Debbie Pierson, Becky Land (E.J.), Malcolm Davis (Janet) and Kathy Dick (Carl); nine grandchildren, Krystal Thorne (Cliff), Billy Pierson (Wendy), Mitch Pierson (Laura Beth), Chris Land (Jennifer), Ken Land (Victoria), Cadey Miner (Kason), Katlyn Worley (Dustin), Mark Dick and Luke Dick; 17 great-grandchildren, Pierson, Davis, Mary-James, Zack, Maggie, River, Brooks, and soon expected Ella Grace, Rachel, Becca, Ethan, Gracelyn, Tanner, Annastin, Laysen, Brennan, and Ellie; siblings Betty Newell, Nell Pipkins (Curtis), Glenn Davis (Sue) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Don Shoots and Pastor Chad Bass officiating. The family will receive family and friends beginning at 9:30 am.
Interment will follow at Southport Memorial Gardens with military honors. Pallbearers will be Malcolm Davis, Chris Land, Ken Land, Billy Pierson, Mitch Pierson, Mark Dick and Luke Dick.
