James E. "Bud" Dernulc

James Edward Dernulc passed away peacefully at the age of 82, Dec.17,2025 at Lightways Hospice Facility, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 15,1943. The son of the late William F.& Rose C.(nee Horvat) Dernulc. James was a lifelong resident, born in Joliet and raised in Rockdale. He was a graduate of Joliet Central Highschool. He was stationed in Korea in the army as a K9 officer. He was an avid Chicago Bulls & White Sox fan. Liked Tiger Woods, and collected sports cards. Loved his snicker bars & German chocolate cake. Everyone knew him as Bud. He was kind & talked to everyone. Treated every kid as one of his own, and looked forward to Bud days with the kids they babysat. Never missed a sports game at St. Pats, & went to every band function or event for his daughter, grandson, and kids that they babysat. Enjoyed sitting out on the porch, and watching General Hospital with his loving wife. They had a wonderful life together. James is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty (nee Myles) Dernulc. Daughters Kim Dernulc, and Brenda (Painter). Grandchildren Tyler Dernulc, & Cheyanne, & Brandon. He is also survived by his brother Philip (Sarah) Dernulc, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Service for James Edward Dernulc will be Saturday Dec.27,2025 at 10:30 am from Carlson Holmquist-Sayles funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd. Joliet Il 60435. Memorial Visitation from 10:00 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, IL., will be appreciated.
