James Dimitri, age 95, passed away on April 7, 2025. Jim was born in Gary, IN, attended Tolleston High School and Indiana University Northwest.

Survived by daughter Diane of Indian Land, SC, son Mark (Suzanne) of Ashburn, VA, son James R. of Lake Wylie, SC and three grandsons, Brandon, David, and Daniel Dimitri. Preceded in death by wife Virginia, parents Angelo and Antigoni Dimitri, sisters Bessie Valcu, Kay Tsilis, and Helen Shomos, and "brothers" George Mussie, Harry Mussie, and Pete Mussie.

Jim was a member of Sts. Constantine & Helen Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville. He was a member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #736 - transfer to Dunes Lodge #741. He was a member of Scottish Rite Masons of South Bend, IN, Chaplain, Council Line. The recipient of the Meritorious Service Award and was coronated a 33-degree Mason in 2007 with elaborate ceremonies in Washington DC. A member of Orak Shrine & Jesters of Michigan City, IN, the South Lake County Shrine Club, Red Cross of Constantine, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and Royal Order of Scotland. A member and past presiding officer of all York Rite Masonic Bodies, KYCH. Served as Grand Prelate (Emeritus) Knights Templar, State of Indiana. Recipient of the Order of Purple Cross. Life member of American Legion, veteran of US Army, Sgt. Korean Conflict. Recipient Combat Infantry Badge with Oak Leaf Cluster, Korean Service Medal with Combat Service Star.

An avid Cubs fan for 90+ years, Jim enjoyed golf, bowling, seeing the world via numerous cruise expeditions, meeting with friends, visits to wineries, and spending as much time as possible with his beloved children and grandchildren.

May his memory be eternal.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 3:00 pm until the time of the Masonic Service at 6:30 pm.

Additional visitation will be on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St, Merrillville, IN 46410 from 9:30 am until the time of Funeral Service at 10:00 am.

Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in James' name to Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral and/or Shriners Hospital for Children.
