James Dingle Jr.

James Dingle Jr., also affectionately called Dingle Jr., "Junie," "Jamie", "J-Pup" and at Oak Grove – "Lil James", was born March 2, 1981, in Taegu, Korea. On Friday, March 31, 2023, while asleep, he quietly transitioned and went to be with the Lord.
Born to military parents, Martha and James Sr., he traveled all over the country, and in March 1995, he and his family moved to Columbia, South Carolina. He attended Richland One Schools and graduated from Lower Richland High School.
Jamie was employed at Classic Ford, Dick Smith Ford, and O'Reilly's Auto Parts Store. He loved to travel and experiment in the kitchen and is known for his seasoning of pork chops, ribs, and chicken.
He demonstrated his love for God at an early age while singing in choirs, ushering, and attending Sunday School. He gave his life to Christ and was baptized at the age of 13 while attending Daniel Circle on Fort Jackson. He has also attended New Light Beulah Baptist, Mt Pilgrim Baptist, and Bethlehem Baptist prior to joining Oak Grove Baptist Church. His favorite scripture was 2 Chronicles 7:14 and he was often seen wearing it on his t-shirt.
Jamie loved God, his family, dogs, sports, and the New England Patriots. He never met a stranger and will be remembered as a person who loved to laugh and make those around him laugh as well. Many will miss his smile, jokes/pranks, early morning inspirations and his baritone voice.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George Bright, Sr., Willie Dingle Sr., and Annie Pearl Rigby; and his aunt, Beverly McCants.
Jamie leaves to cherish his memory, his father, James (Rae-Shann) Dingle, Sr.; his mother, Martha Bright-Rivera; sister, Rochelle Thomas; and his brother, D'Metrus (Lacy) Reece; also cherishing his memory are his grandmother, Selena Thomas; uncles, Willie Dingle Jr., Jeffrey (Latoya) Gurley, Steve (Marie) Rigby, James McCants, Clifton (Rozetta) Bright, Robert Edwards, Graylin (Ella) Topping, Anthony Bright, Graylin (Tanya) Collins, Craig (Lisa) Bright, and George (Louise) Bright Jr.; aunts, Connie (Jerry) Roberts, Valarie Dingle, Kathy Townsend, April (Carl) Hampton, Maxine Topping, Jan (Clarence) Heath, Carmen (Norman) Bailey, and Roshell (Anthony) Powel; and a host of family, including nieces, nephews, cousins, caring friends, church family, co-workers and neighbors, all of whom will truly miss him.
