Jim was born in Erie Pennsylvania on April 2nd, 1931 To Bernard and Gladys Dolle, the youngest of 3 children. He spent his formative years in Tacoma, WA. and graduated from Clover Park High School. He attended Washington State College (now University) in 1949, where he earned a degree in Architectural Engineering. While attending Washington State College he excelled in wrestling where he was a member of a team that won 3 straight PAC 10 championships and competed in the Northwest Olympic trials.

In 1954, after graduating from College, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was part of the 812 Installation Squadron at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico and attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

In 1961, Jim formed the architectural firm Nelson, Walla, and Dolle, in Vancouver, Wa., along with Partners, Don Nelson and Ed Walla. Nelson, Walla, and Dolle' work included Vancouver, City Hall, Vancouver Police station, Clark County Correctional Center, Fort Vancouver High School, Gaiser Middle School, Evergreen Memorial Gardens, and over 40 Red Lion and Thunderbird hotels, Vancouver Tennis Center, among many others.

In 1981, Jim and Larry Swatosh formed the Dolle Swatosh Partnership (DSP) where their work included Southwest Washington Medical Center, Vancouver, Memorial Hospital, and Columbia Memorial Hospital, to name a few. Jim retired in 1995.

Jim Lived in Vancouver, Washington for over 60 years. Member of the Vancouver Tennis Club, West Coast B.A.S.S., served as President of the Washington State Architectural Board, Board Member of the Washington State Children's Home Society, Board Member of the Catholic Adoption Society, and member and former President of Royal Oaks Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Dolle, daughter Catherine Dolle, daughter Kim Hanson, and son Chris Dolle. Grandchildren: Carrie Davis, James Webb, Reece Malloy, Adrianne Orahood, Alex Dolle, and Andrew Dolle
