James J. Doughtery "Doc" of Aston. "A True Patriot". Passed away on Aug. 13, 2020 surrounded by his family. Jim was from Crum Lynne, but lived most of his adult life in Aston, Pa.. A graduate of St. James High School, he was a proud member of the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Saratoga, he was stationed at Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban missile crisis and the Bay of Pigs. Jim retired from Scott paper after 35 yrs., he was a member of the NRA, and the American Legion Post 926 in Aston. A member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jim was a licensed taxidermist, an avid hunter and fisherman. A member of St. Joseph Church in Aston. Son of the late Clair & Rose Dougherty. Loving husband of Barbara (nee Phillips), Father of Kathleen Resnick, Pop Pop of Megan Giantonio, Mitchell Resnick, whom he dearly loved. Brother of Rosemary Dougherty and Kathleen Gorman. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Wed. 11:30 AM - 1:15 PM at the Danjolell – Stigale Memorial Home 3260 Concord Rd. Aston. Funeral Service 1:30 PM in our main chapel. Interment will be private at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in James's name may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation at www.garysinisefoundation.org
