James "Jim" Patrick Doyle, 82, of Bethlehem, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and his three children with their families. He was the husband of Linda J. (Weiss) Doyle. Jim was born August 31, 1942, in Fountain Hill to the late Thomas P. and Margaret S. (Johnson) Doyle. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1961-1968. Jim worked for the City of Bethlehem as a Police Officer from 1969-1996, until his retirement as a Lieutenant. During that time, he furthered his education, receiving his bachelor's degree from Alvernia University in 1975 and his master's degree from West Chester University in 1978. After retirement from the Bethlehem Police Department, he continued to serve as a Pennsylvania State Constable from 1997-2021. During those years, he also worked as a Lehigh County Deputy Sheriff and taught Criminal Justice courses at Lehigh Carbon Community College. Jim was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Bethlehem Twp.
Survivors: In addition to his spouse of 54 years; children: Jennifer L. (Kyle) Kramm of Bethlehem, Melissa E. (Eric) Smith of Easton, Shawn P. (Marisol) Doyle of Bethlehem; siblings: Kathleen A. (Rev. J. Michael Dowd) of Easton, Eileen M. (Thomas) Bauer of Northampton, Barbara J. (Donald) Kemmerer of Bethlehem; grandchildren: William, Shawn, Timothy, Jaeyana, Amelia. Predeceased by his step-mother: Betty (Harrison) Doyle, step-sister: Paula Brueningsen.
Services: Friends and family are invited to his viewings, 6-8pm Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem and 10-11am Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Road, Bethlehem. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am. The interment will conclude at Holy Savior Cemetery, Bethlehem with Military Honors. Online condolences may be offered at www.connellfuneral.com.
