James Webb "Jim" Duers March 31, 1942 – May 20, 2025
Lt. Col. James Webb "Jim" Duers, USAF Ret., of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, of natural causes at the age of 83. Jim was born to William (Bill) and Elizabeth (Betty) Duers in Glens Falls, New York, on March 31, 1942.
He attended Union College in Schenectady, NY, where he was an AFROTC cadet. Upon graduation in 1965, he joined the United States Air Force and was commissioned as an officer. Jim spent 20 years serving our country and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was stationed at Clark AFB in the Philippines, where he met his future bride. After retiring from the service, Jim continued his career for another two decades as an electrical engineer working with various companies contracted in and around Eglin AFB.
After his second retirement, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family at the home where he and his wife had resided for 44 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Zenaida (Zeny) Duers; his son, Michael Duers, and his daughter, Leslie (Duers) Fouts; as well as his two grandchildren, William and Savannah Fouts.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, July 13th at 3:00 pm, at the American House in Bluewater Bay, where he and Zeny have resided for the past year. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Wounded Warrior Project.
