James Michael Duet, 60, passed away peacefully in his Lee's Summit home, near his family, on Friday April 26, 2024. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.
James was born and raised in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. His Cajun roots gave him a love of cooking, friends, and family. His loyalty and incredible work ethic contributed to a more than 30-year career at Balls Foods, where he continued to work until his passing.
While his life was cut short, he always remained the quiet calm behind his wife, Bridgette, and her frantic pace. He valued the life they built together, the children they raised, and the family they created. He had a "joie de vivre" and family was at the heart of his happiness. Whether behind the grill, watching the Saints play football, or cheering on his kids, family is what mattered most. His biggest joy was watching his children, Britten, Colin, and Rusty become the successes they are and will continue to be. And he finally gets to see his angel, Tyler, again in heaven.
No matter if you called him James, Jim, or "Jamesy Boy" as Bridgette called him, to know him was a privilege and he truly was one of a kind. His family will carry on the promise to listen, laugh, and make memories with those who loved him.
Family, friends, and acquaintances are invited to celebrate James Duet at the Stonehaus Farms Vineyard & Winery – Festhall (24607 NE Colbern Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64086) on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Gathering at 2 p.m., tribute begins at 3 p.m., celebration and refreshments to continue until 5 p.m.
Donations may be sent to Saint Luke's Foundation, 901 E 104 Street, Mailstop 100 South, Kansas City, MO 64131; designate either Hospice or Cancer Center on the check.

I had the privilege of working with James through the Ball´s Foods. He was one of the nicest, kindest people walking the planet. If there were more James in the world it would be a much better place.

James will be missed. He was always a friendly, honorable man that never shared an unkind word about anyone. We were honored to have worked with him and personally, it was always just nice to see his smile and hear his friendly voice. We have worked with Balls Foods for nearly 2 decades and never worked with a nicer guy. Along with everyone who knew him, I will miss James.

We had the honor to work with James for over 10 years at Balls Foods and he was the epitome of everything you would want in a human being. His smile knew no boundaries. He was a kindhearted loving man who would do anything for anyone without hesitation. Our hearts are heavy with his passing but know that he will be with the Lord enjoying eternal life without anymore pain. Many, many heartfelt condolences go out to his whole family from use.

I had the privilege to work with James for many years at Ball´s Food Stores. He was a wonderful person; kind, hardworking and so knowledgeable about seafood and shared some wonderful recipes. I have kept him in my prayers and will keep his family in my prayers.
Sincerely,
