James Dunlap Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 14, 2024.
With laughter and a twinkle in our eyes, we celebrate the life of James William Dunlap, affectionately known by many as Jim. Born on June 28, 1937, in Newark, OH, USA, he lived a full and rich life until his passing on October 11, 2024. A charismatic soul, Jim was an undeniable force of joy and charm. He was not only a funny and loving character but a beacon of courage. As Charlie Chaplin once said, "A day without laughter is a day wasted," and Jim made sure no day was ever wasted.
Jim led a spirited life filled with the things he loved. His eyes lit up every time he placed a bet, his sense of humor shining through even the toughest of losses. His love for the natural world was palpable, often seen watching and feeding wildlife from his porch. He found peace and tranquility in these simple pleasures and shared this joy with those around him. A die-hard fan of the classic detective drama Mannix, Jim was known for his impressive recall of every episode, a talent that always brought a smile to our faces.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his devoted daughter, Terry Price. His spirit lives on in her and all those whose lives he touched. He is reunited in the stars with his beloved wife, Jeanetta Dunlap, and his daughter, Jeanetta Booth, who preceded him in death. They are undoubtedly having a grand old time together, perhaps watching an episode or two of Mannix.
Jim's life was a testament to the power of laughter, love, and courage. His energy was infectious, his heart, boundless. We invite you to join us in celebrating the vibrant life of James Dunlap. Please leave your cherished memories and upload photos to the memorial page. As we remember Jim, let us remember the words of Victor Borge, "Laughter is the shortest distance between two people." So let's close that distance and remember Jim with laughter, joy, and love.
