Celebrating the life of James Ashley Ebert
On May 10, 2024, James Ashley Ebert went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on July 21,1941 in the City of Portland OR. He was the son of the late James Franklin and Anna (Pfeifer) Ebert.
Jim attended the University of Washington and completed his bachelor degree at Delaware State University in Dover Delaware.
Jim married the love of his life, Dianne Schessler. The two were joined in holy matrimony on March 27, 1965 in
Delavan, WI. In 1966 the couple moved to
Dover, DE where Jim began working as a Quality Control Auditor at the new General Foods plant, where Jim and Dianne started the adventure of their lives in Delaware.
In 1968 they were blessed with a precious daughter, Julie Anne. Julie was gravely ill from birth and lost her battle for life in August 1969. They were later blessed with two healthy sons, Ken and Jon.
Jim worked for General Foods which became Kraft foods, where he was quality control auditor and active in overseeing plant sanitation and pest control, and where he retired from Kraft in 1999. He then started his own business known as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP Basics), and finished his career after working with Rutgers University, NJ, where he taught good manufacturing practices for several years relating to the food industry. He fully retired in 2017 due to poor health.
Jim and Dianne were one of the founding members of Liberty Church, State College Road
Dover, DE, where they were active in the building of the church in 1988. He was a Deacon and member of the church board, where he served as teacher for the adult Sunday school, President of the Corporation, and several other positions on the board.

Jim was truly a hard worker physically and for the kingdom of God. He was such a man of integrity who cared about and encouraged others. Serving was where he found so much pleasure, both in the church and in the community. He taught his sons what a real man and father looks like. Jim truly loved his wife and family. He had no problem putting their needs before his own, even at his own expense.
What more can we say about James Ashley Ebert? He truly was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and was determined to finish his earthly race with integrity so that he could crown his Lord as King of kings and Lord of lords.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 59 years, Dianne; two sons, Kenneth Ashley and Jon Alexander; (Jon's wife Cassie) all of whom reside in
Jacksonville, Florida; four grandchildren -Tim, Jessica, Hunter, and Jordyn; two great grandchildren, Jett, Levi, and nephew, Ed Goodman, and a host of friends and church family.
