Jim Eddy passed away in the home that he shared with his life partner, Charlotte Turner, on Monday, August 26, 2024, in Deale, MD. He was born December 21, 1952, to Arvid Eddy and Elizabeth (Daly) Eddy at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was raised in Landover Hills and Bowie, MD but frequented his parent's hometown in Titusville, PA in his childhood. Jim was the first of 6 siblings and is preceded in death by Laura Eddy, Rita Eddy, and John Eddy. He is survived by Kathy Cook and David Eddy.
Jim graduated from Bowie High School in 1970. He worked as a mechanic and service writer at various places throughout his life. Jim was a lover of engines and muscle cars and had many of his own. He cherished his Donzi and could often be found skiing on the South River. He had a love for pool and played in a league at Crofton Cantina for many years. On a nice summer day, Jim would be out for hours "puttnn" around on his 1989 Harley Davidson Softtail. On a cool fall morning, he'd watch the sunrise from his deer stand, high in a tree in the middle of the woods. In his later years, he picked up the virtual computer game, Aces High, flying and fighting WWII airplanes, and made some great friends from around the world. Jim was known around his neighborhood for his love of dogs and his punny dad jokes. More than his love for all those things, was his love for his daughters. He leaves behind Katie (Johnny) Nevin and Angela (Matthew) Huddle, as well as, his granddaughter, Rose Daly VanDyke, and step-grandson, Tyler VanDyke. He also leaves behind his newly found son, Michael (Kara) Emmart and granddaughter Madeleine Emmart.
Jim's life had many untraditional situations, but he always met them with unconditional love and never-ending support. He was the best father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend that anyone could ask for.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Deale Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, September 28th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter at https://www.follkas.org/.
