James Eder Obituary

James "Jim" Edward Eder, 82, of rural Bloomer, WI, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 20 while under the care of Mayo Hospice with his family at his side.

Jim was born at home in the big farmhouse to Bertram William Eder and Geneva "Jean" Seckora on July 2, 1942. He attended St. Peter's Catholic School in Tilden and graduated from Bloomer High School in 1960.

Jim married his sweetheart, Susan Ruth Burgess on September 7, 1963, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Tilden. They were blessed with three sons.

Jim worked on the Eder family farm until his marriage. He was a hard worker, starting at the age of 5 working around the farm. He was taught a great work ethic at a young age. He cut teeth on John Deere Tractors and loved John Deere equipment; he could tell you almost anything about them.

Jim worked for over 30 years at Uniroyal starting in maintenance and finishing his career as supervisor. He also owned & operated Eder's Hanger in Bloomer for 10 years along with his wife.

Jim was a member of the Bloomer Chamber of Commerce, charter member of Tilden Lions Club, Chippewa Valley Model A Club, and a third degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.

The greatest gift Jim gave was the example he left behind: strength of character, the importance of integrity, and trust & honesty. He cared not for just his family, but for everyone he came in contact with that needed help. He welcomed strangers and made them his friends. Jim loved to visit with anyone that would listen.

Jim always had a smile and a twinkle in his eyes. There are memories of him that will always be cherished. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true friend. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. Jim left some very big shoes to fill. His family and the world lost a wealth of knowledge.

Jim loved the Lord and had a strong Catholic faith. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; they were his pride and joy.

Jim is survived by his wife, Susan, of almost 61 years; three sons, John of Cornell, Jeff (Vicky) of Bloomer, and Jody (Julie) of Bloomer; seven grandchildren, Justin (Mallory), Jordon, Jared (Brit), Joshua (Ashley), Jacob, Jamie Susan Mae (Cole), and Josie Ellen Jean; ten great-grandchildren, Ben, Elli, Livi, Lily, Kaydence Jo, Nadia, Nolan, Ayven, Hadly Susan, and Margot James; also by brother, Dan (Kathy) Eder; and by other nieces, nephews, relatives, and special family friend, Renee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Mildred & Clifford Burgess; niece, Jessica Eder; many aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.

Memorial mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 26 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father Victor Feltes celebrating the mass. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be held later at St. Paul's North Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer.

The family would like to thank Mayo Hospice and all the doctors and nurses that cared for Jim.
