James E. "Jimmy" Eggborn

January 28, 1956 - July 14, 2025

James E. "Jimmy" Eggborn, 69, of Rixeyville, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Poet's Walk of Warrenton.

Jimmy was born to the late William H. Eggborn III and Pauline Inskeep Eggborn on January 28. He was raised in Culpeper County, attending Salem Elementary School and graduating from Culpeper High School. He was a member of the 1974 State Championship Basketball team. He shared his love for basketball and baseball by coaching youth teams. Jimmy devoted his life to his family farm and local community. For 25 years, he welcomed students from Emerald Hill Elementary to the farm for an annual field trip. He was active in the Culpeper Agriculture Enterprise and proud of his time serving on the Board of Directors. Jimmy was the chairman of the Culpeper 4-H Board of Directors of the Culpeper-Madison Feeder Calf Association and received the Culpeper Colonel Award. In 2006, he was honored as the Chamber of Commerce's Outstanding Agricultural Business. Jimmy's love and dedication for farming were celebrated when the Eggborn Family Farm was awarded the Century Farm Award, recognizing 100 years of stewardship by the same family. Jimmy loved animals, from his beef cattle to his barn cats, but especially his hound dogs; his hunting dogs "Chase" and "Sport", and his last most loyal companion, "Girlie".

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Eggborn; his children, Eli and Jenna Eggborn; His siblings, William P. Eggborn (Kathi), Hugh J. Eggborn (Carol), Ellen Eggborn Sloan; stepbrother, John Nore; brother-in-law, Chuck Elliott (Jean), and close friends, Bill and Ann Copeland. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Michael Sloan, and lifelong friend, "Pokey" Buchanan.

Jimmy's family would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers at Poet's Walk of Warrenton.

Jimmy was always a joy to talk with and he always took time to share a laugh or two. Very fine athlete who gave of he´s time to coach kids. He will be missed and long remembered.
