He was a dedicated member of the Jackson County Fair Board and Schneck Medical Center Hospital Board. He served as a Jackson County Commissioner from 1990 to 1994, and was a member of the Medora Masonic Lodge and the NRA.
Born on April 8, 1942, in Seymour, James was the son of Winfield and Juanita (Flinn) Eglen, both of whom preceded him in death. On December 23, 1961, at Evangelical United Methodist Church in Seymour, he married Sharon Wineinger, and she survives in Brownstown.
