It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Jacob Benjamin Eglen, age 17, who left us on June 27, 2025, in Floyd County, Indiana. Born on July 10, 2007, in Louisville, Kentucky, Jacob was a shining light in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a beloved son, a cherished brother, loved grandson and a true friend to many.

Jacob was a proud graduate of North Harrison High School, Class of 2025. His zest for life was palpable, and he never met a stranger. Whether it was his engaging smile or his easy-going nature, Jacob lit up every room he entered. He enjoyed being around people and was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand or share a laugh.

A devoted employee at Bluegrass Harley Davidson, Jacob was deeply passionate about his work. His profound knowledge of motorcycles and his enthusiasm for riding his own Harley Davidson were evident to all who knew him. He also loved being outdoors, whether he was riding four-wheelers and dirt bikes or simply enjoying nature. His love for animals was heartwarming, especially his feline companion, Georgia, who brought him countless moments of joy.

Jacob’s greatest pride was his family. His father, Gary Michael Eglen, was not only his parent but also his best friend; the pair did everything together. His loving mother, Uraina Duty loved him with her whole soul and prayed daily for him. He is survived by his brothers: Caleb, Hunter, Shane Duty, and Vincent Duty. Jacob was also an uncle to Poppy, Kayden, and Royaltee. He also shared a special bond with his grandmother, Rebecca Leuthart, and his grandparents Bob and Darlene Morgan. Jacob treasured his relationships with his aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who filled his life with love and laughter.

A visitation to celebrate Jacob's life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150 with a memorial service at 6:00 PM.

Jacob Benjamin Eglen may have left this world too soon, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. His laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering spirit will echo in our memories, reminding us to cherish the moments we have with each other. As we bid farewell to an incredible young man, let us remember to honor him by living fully and embracing every connection, just as Jacob did.
