Leland Joseph Harbeson of Ramsey, IN, a devoted follower of Christ, loving and committed husband, father, papaw, and friend to so many people that he loved, passed away on December 18, 2024. He was born August 31, 1953 to Earl Emery and Betty Louise (Sauerheber) Harbeson of Crandall, IN. Leland married Christine Knies Harbeson and they enjoyed a full life together with their children: Kimberly Harbeson Neal, Cleyton and Derek (Aubrey Brown) and their grandchildren: Reaghan Lelan, Everett Deyton and Reid David Neal; Emery Elizabeth and Ramsey Mae Harbeson.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Michael (Mike), a nephew Joshua W. Fuhs and many aunts, uncles and cousins of the Harbeson and Sauerheber clans.
Leland is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, nephew Michael L. Harbeson; sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews, and his God son, Alexander Fuhs.
He graduated from North Harrison High School with the Class of 1971. Leland was an avid sports enthusiast, loved North Harrison and IU basketball, Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates, baseball, darts, horseshoes, softball and anything his children or grandchildren were involved with from princess contests to theatre to sports or their clubs and school performances. He was retired from Ford Motor Company in Louisville, KY.
Leland was a founding member and Deacon of Hillview Christian Church in Marengo, IN. He volunteered with many brothers and sisters in Christ through DaySpring Emmaus, Residents Encounter Christ, Freed From Within, Mercy Street and other ministries focused on salvation and life restoration through Jesus Christ.
All services will be held at Hillview Christian Church. Ministers of the funeral: Paul Walerczak, Bruce Hawkins, and Darren Stroud. Interment at Bethlehem Cemetery in Crandall, Indiana.
Visitation will be held from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday December 22, 2024 and again on Monday December 23, 2024 from 10am to 12pm.
Funeral services will take place at 12pm on Monday, December 23, 2024.
