Obituary of James Patrick Ellis
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather James (Jim) Patrick Ellis, who left us on 8/18/2023. He leaves us with memories of shared adventures and cherished stories.
Born on 3/17/1928 in Douglas Wyoming to Alva Curtis and Helen Ellis. Jim joined the Army in 1945, just missing WWII. Married to Patricia Knowles Ellis he was preceded in death by his wife and son William Forrest Ellis (married to and survived by Debbie Zellner Ellis) and is survived by his two daughters Helen Mari Ellis (married to Tom Miszewski), Victoria Tate (married to David Tate) and his dear friend and cousin Kay Howell. He was married later in life to Catherine Deats who graciously shared her wonderful sons Doug Deats, (married to Val Deats) and Steve Deats (married to Cyd Deats, deceased). Jim and Catherine spent many loving years with their blended families living in Estes Park in the summers, and enjoying the RV vagabond lifestyle in the winters. Catherine preceded him in death.
Jim loved hiking outdoors and most enjoyed European travel with his two daughters. He was always eager to plan the next adventure. We look at his passing as his greatest adventure of all.
Jim will be dearly missed but his legacy will live on through his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
