James Ellis Obituary
Pete was born August 11, 1935, to the late John A. and Sophie Pharr Ellis. He lived a life of deep faith to God and dedication to his late wife Helen H. Ellis and family. He was a lifelong member of Cedar Grove AME Zion Church where he served faithfully until his passing. After 55 1/2 years as a truck driver, he retired from JP Green Milling Company, Mocksville, NC. He served with the Masonic Faithful Lodge #376, Cleveland, NC for 50 plus years.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sons, James Edward Jr., Terry Alexander and Gregory Eugene Ellis, his baby girl, Helen Dolores Williamson, grandson, Rico Ellis, great grands, Genesis and Lennox Mason and son-in-law, Vaughn Williams. Also preceding him in death are siblings, Arthur, Norris-Jean, Johnnie and Robert Ellis, Eva Mayberry, Bernice Ellis, Kathlene Sifford, Hattie Rankin, Geneva Vaughters and Lucille Moore.
He is survived by his daughters, Dianne Williams and Margaret Ellis Salisbury, NC, Jackie (Elijah) Belton, Woodleaf, NC and Barbara (Eddie) Fortson, Cleveland, NC; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellis of Salisbury, NC; son-in-law, Jeff Williamson of Woodleaf, NC. Grandchildren, Wendell, Jamie, Sawiaha, Quinta, Ashley, Rashelle, Demario, Tempestt, Jameka, Talaya, Derrick, Broderick, Brooklyne, Nikki, Darius, Jeremy, Destiny, and 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Siblings; Walter, John, Raymond, Leroy and Charles Ellis and Virginia Cuthbertson and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Arrangements: Public Walk Thru Friday, August 29, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the funeral home. Services will be Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Cedar Grove AME Zion Church, Salisbury, with Visitation at 12:00pm and Funeral at 1:00pm. Interment following service in the Cedar Grove AME Zion Church Cemetery. Reverend Donna Cuthbertson, Officiating and Reverend Dr. Debra Hall, Pastor, Eulogist.
