Obituary of James Clarence Engimann
James C. Engimann, age 97 and longtime Joliet resident passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, in Green Bay, WI. Jim was born on March 23, 1926, to the late Clarence and Lillian (Stiner) Engimann. Jim grew up in Joliet before attending UCLA where he achieved his Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology. After graduation, Jim entered the United States Navy where he served admirably during the Korean War. Following his active service, Jim furthered his education at Purdue University, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering while continuing his military service in the reserves.
Jim retired from his singular career with Commonwealth Edison (now Exelon) where he designed high-voltage electrical transmission systems. He also continued his Navy reserve service as a teacher of Meteorology at the base in Rockdale, IL.
James is survived by his children, Robert (Katherine) Engimann and Susan (Thomas) Mahoney; step-children Bruce (Terri) Vollmer, Barbara (William) Naughton, and Mark (Jacquelyn) Vollmer as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia; his first wife, Shirley (Longnecker) Engimann; second wife, Patricia (Sullivan) Engimann; his son David Engimann; and granddaughters Amy Signaigo and Janelle Mims.
Visitation for James C. Engimann will be Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet. Funeral services will be the following morning, Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 10 a.m., St. John Lutheran Church, 2650 Plainfield Rd., Joliet. Interment to follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to your favorite charity in memory of Jim.
