Lawrence A. Doyle
Lawrence Andrew "Larry" Doyle, age 87, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Plainfield, with his loving family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 27, 1939, in Chicago, he was the son of William and Mary (Bodzioch) Doyle, and was a graduate of Harrison High School. He continued his education by attending night school at DePaul University.
Larry worked as a foreman with the Village of Bellwood Street Department, retiring after many years of faithful service.
A hard working, tough minded, but compassionate man, Larry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who made many sacrifices to provide for his family. His generosity and willingness to help anyone in need were examples of his heart of gold.
An avid golfer, he was very proud of his hole-in-one, and was a faithful fan of both the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox. He also had a soft spot for animals and time spent in the company of a good dog was time well spent.
Larry was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, who enjoyed 40 years of sobriety, and helped many people in recovery as a sponsor and as someone willing to share his experience, strength and hope.
He had a profound impact on the lives of his family, his fellowship, and his community. His spirit will live on through all who knew and loved him, and will continue to be an inspiration for years to come.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 68 years, Alice M. (Walenga) Doyle of Joliet; his loving children, Kathleen (Randy) Albrecht of Joliet, Mark (Erin) Doyle of Aurora, and Michael (Kim) Doyle of Darien; his grandchildren, Sara (Tyler) Kent, Jessica (Keaton) Scott, Holly Albrecht, Brittany Doyle, Melanie Doyle, Taylor (Jake) Bouquet, and Haley Doyle; three great-grandchildren, Logan Scott, Landon Kent, and Ada Bouquet; and his grand-dogs, Max, Cairo and Sydney.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Randy Albrecht, Jr.; and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (
