Millard Doyle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rush Funeral Home - Oakdale on Mar. 19, 2026.
Funeral services for Mr. Millard Doyle will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale, with Reverend Richard LaCour officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Oakhill Cemetery, Oakdale, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Millard, lovingly known as "Pawpaw Doyle," passed away on March 15, 2026, at the age of 96.

A proud and dedicated veteran of the United States Army, Millard joined the United States Army at the age of 17, and went on to serve his country honorably for twenty-two years. During his service, he fought in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War, earning recognition as a decorated soldier. A man of deep faith, he served as a deacon and lived a life rooted in his love for God, family, and country.

Following his military career, Millard worked as a butcher at Salley's Food Store, where he was known for his strong work ethic, friendly spirit, and humor that brought people together.

In 1954, he married the love of his life, Ollive Rodriguez, and together they built a family grounded in faith and love. They shared sixty-five years of marriage filled with travel, good dogs, great meals, and a home lovingly nurtured by his beautiful and resilient wife.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ollive; his parents, Farley and Louise Ware Doyle; six brothers; four sisters; one son-in-law, Darren Strother; and one great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his brother, Vernon; his daughters, Debra (Kenneth) and Carolyn, whom he was most proud of and admired for the wonderful women they became; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Millard found joy in the simple things in life. He was known for his sense of humor and his ability to make others laugh-often beginning a story with his familiar phrase, "Listen here, Trooper." He loved playing dominoes anywhere and anytime, fishing for bass, and cooking a mean brisket that brought family together time and time again. He also cherished playing Uno with his grandbabies, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

He spent his final years at Beehive Assisted Living in Youngsville, where he was surrounded by friendship, laughter, and love. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and community at Beehive for the care and kindness they showed him.

He will be remembered for his strength, his faith, his service, and the love he gave so freely to those around him.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
