September 21, 2025, in Lancaster County PA at Lancaster General Hospital. Born on November 13, 1940, in Monaca, Pa Jim was the son of the late Herbert and Margaret Evans. Jim was raised in Monaca and was a graduate of Monaca High School, Monaca PA class of 1958. Jim was the loving husband of his wife of 64 years Linda Kay Evans.
After graduating high school James O. Evans 84, Formally of Monaca, Pa passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, he worked at J&L Steel and then retired as a letter carrier from the US postal service in Lancaster County. He served as a volunteer firefighter for many years while living in Monaca. After moving to Lancaster County, he was a member of the lion's club. Jim loved the beach, specifically the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Jim had a great eye for photography and has many amazing photos that adorn many family and friends' walls. He was a great storyteller and always had a joke. Jim had a heart of gold and was the perfect secret Santa for many kids in underserved communities.
Jim is survived by his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren. Children, James Richard Evans (Annette L) of Atlantic, VA, Robert Allen Evans (Diane M) of Calcium NY, Susan Lynn Evans-Trump (Larry R.), of New Cumberland, PA. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth and Daryl, Jimmy, Nicole, Bob, Jacquelyn and Cameron, Tannis and Nick. Great grandchild Eli and Malik. There are many nieces and nephews, along with a sister-in-law Mary Anne Evans.
He was predeceased in death by his parents, Herbert and Margaret Evans, oldest Brother and sister-in-law, Lt. Col. Herbert W. and Margaret Evans, Brother, Richard "Dick" Evans, Sister-In-Law Connie Brown Newman and Brother-In-Law Donald Newman, Nephew David Evans, Granddaughter Megan Flohn.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 West Main Street, Mount Joy. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Friday at the funeral home.
The Evans Family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Bailey located in Columbia, PA. The family has suggested memorial contributions be made, if desired to the American Cancer Society.
