James Michael Evans

James Michael (Mike) Evans 1966-2025 Mike passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and his beloved Golden Retrievers – Ruby and Lucy. He was proud lifelong resident of Colorado. Mike married Kitty in 2000 and together they built a wonderful life full of family, friends, fun and of course – dogs! In 2014, Mike and Kitty retired and moved to Granby fulfilling their dream of living in the mountains. Mike had many hobbies and interests including hunting, hiking, art, and photography, but none were as important to him as his passion for fishing. He was an avid fisherman who strongly believed in the importance of "catch and release", and the ethical handling of those elusive big "lakers". Mike developed the website GranbyCabin.com, which featured live camera footage of Lake Granby, allowing others to see what was happening on the lake in real time. Mike was a lifelong learner and a natural teacher. He enjoyed sharing his art and taught classes in fabric art around the County. His art has been displayed in several businesses in Granby and Grand Lake. Mike lived his life to its fullest. He was dedicated to his family and dogs and his friends and community. He will be remembered with love by those who knew him. Any memorials can be directed to the Grand County Animal Shelter.
