JAMES ROSS FENNER
September 4, 1956 - August 7, 2025
Age 68, cherished husband of Frances Fenner, loving son of the late Charles and Joan Fenner. Beloved brother of Terry, Joe (Kiersten), the late Charles, the late Gregory and Steven. Uncle to many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Dad to countless pets that he and Frances rescued, adopted and cared for over their 32 years together.
The second oldest of 6 boys, Jim was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. In his early twenties he moved with friends to Texas in search of job opportunities. He learned the plumbing trade and became a successful plumber. He later moved to California, then to Florida.
In 1993 he moved back to Michigan to be with his family, and to be reunited with his long-lost love Frances. They met on a camping trip in 1973 when they were both 16, and when they reconnected twenty years later sparks flew!
Jim was very athletic and loved playing baseball and hockey. He won several trophies, not only for baseball, but for coaching a successful senior league hockey team. He was an avid Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan and never missed a game. He loved rock and roll, was a big fan of the Beatles, Chicago, and Elvis Presley to name a few. He was proud of his American Indian heritage, Mohawk tribe. He also had Irish, English and Polish ancestry.
Jim was a warm, friendly, kind-hearted man who had an incredible sense of humor. People and animals were drawn to him because of his easy-going nature. He had many friends and a big family who will all miss him terribly. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of James, please visit our Tree Store.
