James Firestone Obituary

Mr. James 'Bo' Firestone, age 76, a beloved figure in the hearts of many, passed away on May 19, 2025, in his hometown of Rome, Georgia.

Mr. Firestone was born on April 12, 1949 in Rome, GA and was the son of the late Mr. Claude Firestone and Mrs. Jane Firestone. Bo dedicated his professional life to the fields of insurance and investments, where he not only found great satisfaction but also made waves with multiple colleagues co-founding, AL Williams. His passion for his work shone brightly, and he found joy in the lives he touched and the relationships he built throughout his career. It was not merely a profession for him; it was a calling that brought him profound happiness. Beyond his professional achievements, Bo had an innate love for wildlife, plants, and rocks, reflecting a profound appreciation for the natural world that constantly surrounded him. His spirited enthusiasm for life was also embodied in his undying loyalty to the University of Georgia where he graduated with his bachelor's degree and loved his UGA Bulldogs. Travel was another cherished part of Bo's life, as he delighted in exploring new places and creating memories with loved ones. With every journey, he brought back stories that would further enrich the precious moments he shared with his family. One of Bo's greatest accomplishments in life, however, was his role as a father and he took great pride in being a loving and devoted dad. His legacy will undoubtedly live on through the lives he touched and the love he imparted to his family, teaching them valuable lessons about kindness, hard work, and the beauty of the world around them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Trish Gresham.

Bo is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Dixie Blankenship Firestone of Rome, GA; son, Andrew (Kandy) Firestone of Rome, GA; daughter, Cheri (Jim) Bennison of North Carolina; brother, Carlton Firestone of Bremen, GA; sister, Cynthia Morgan of Rome, GA; three grandchildren: Luke, Kamlyn and Shelby and two great-grandchildren: Carter and Olivia.

In keeping with Mr. Firestone's wishes, he will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at the family's residence (62 Juniper Dr. NE Rome, GA 30161) on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
