James Fleming Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moss-Norris Funeral Home - St. Charles on Oct. 1, 2025.
James (Jim) Robert Fleming, age 77, of Elgin, IL passed away on Sunday September 21, 2025. He was born on April 1, 1948 in St. Louis, MO to his parents Joseph and Estelle (née Simon) Fleming. He was united in marriage to Patricia (née Dierkes) Fleming on June 1, 1974.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia of 51 years, his children; Eric Fleming, Liz Fleming Semón (Mark), and Kelly Fleming Fitzgerald (John); his grandchildren Serena, Estelle, Sidney, Annie, Robbie, Molly, and Mary; his siblings Kathy Kirkpatrick and Jan Lee; his 7 brother-in-laws and 7 sister-in-laws and 27 nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Bob & Marcella Dierkes, brothers Larry & Tom Fleming, his sister-in-laws Christine Dierkes & Mary Dierkes, and his niece Rachel Dierkes.
Jim graduated from St. John Vianney High School in St. Louis in 1966. He went on to St. Louis University where he received his Undergraduate Degree & Masters Degree in Business. Jim was always an entrepreneur and ran his own company for 30+ years. He was creative and jumped into one unique project after the next. Anyone that has worked with Jim would agree that he had an unbelievable work ethic.
Jim was a member of St. Patrick's parish for 44 years, he was active in advocating for pro-life, Men Walking in Christ, he helped start perpetual adoration, and he led First Saturday devotions for many years.
Jim had a great interest in reading, history, and politics. He loved a good debate and was never one to shy away from expressing his opinions. He enjoyed watching baseball (Go Cubs!) and football (Go Bears and Notre Dame!). His favorite time of year was Christmas (he loved listening to Andy Williams). He will especially be remembered for his funny & caustic sense of humor, his quick wit, and memorable one-liners.
A visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at St Patrick Parish; 6N491 Crane Rd, St. Charles, IL 60175. The funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Prairie Cemetery.

Well, hello cousin Jim Fleming. This is cousin, Bob Killion. I always enjoyed our conversations. The Killions had a farm about an hour from St Louis in Jerseyville, Ill. My Mother, Rose Fleming, had brothers and sisters who visited often to eat her fried chicken, milk gravy, fresh garden vegetables and homemade cobblers. All of my cousins still talk about the great times on the farm visits. Pat, we never knew each other well but Jim loved you with all his heart. Yvonne and I are praying for your family.
Rest in Peace, Jim. You have been a good and faithful servant, run a great race and now you are with the Lord. God Bless. Bob

Jim was such a unique guy. We loved talking to him. His great stories always made us laugh. He truly loved his family and was gifted with a great faith in our savior Jesus Christ.
We will always appreciate his travels to St. Louis to join us for our post Thanksgiving lunch. Rest in peace Jim.
