James Ronald Flexon Sr, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday February 1st, 2025, in Hendersonville NC, at the age of 91.
Born in Philadelphia PA on July 31st, 1933, to the late James Dehart and Margaret (Duvall) Flexon, he was the oldest of six children. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1950 and served proudly for 22 years retiring as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7). After retiring from the Navy, he went on to work for Sears for another 20 plus years in Tampa FL, during which time he obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida.
Ron, as he was affectionately known, was a lover of life, good food, drink and family. His calm demeanor and warm smile were always inviting. He lived and left this world on his own terms, leaving no regrets, just a void in the hearts of his family and friends and all those his life touched. He was a friend to all dogs, whom he considered superior to most people.
He is preceded in death by all his siblings and his beloved wife of over 45 years (Molly Mosier Flexon).
Ron is survived by his six children: Sandy (Larry) Worth, Suzanne Kulwicki, Robyn Gillespie, Linda (Wilson) Flexon, Laurie (Robert) Chiarito and Ron Jr (Molly) Flexon. His eight Grandchildren: Sam, Rachel, Alex, Patrick, Max, Taylor, Casey, Ginger and Simone as well as eight Great Grandchildren Jake, Josh, Gage, Luke, Ace, Llewyn, Leni and Ruby.
After circumnavigating the globe while in the Navy, Ron continued to have a love of travel throughout his life. He and his wife Molly spent a year traveling the US before settling down in NC. His last trip abroad was in 2016 to Seoul South Korea, where he and other Korean war veterans were recognized for their service during the war.
Ron was very active in retirement, in addition to volunteering at the Henderson County Historic Courthouse as a security officer, where eventually obtained the rank of Lieutenant, he loved reading, playing chess, working in his garden and spending time with loved ones. His legacy will live on through his descendants and the memories of all those he loved.
The family is planning a private service.
