James Edward Fostek

JAMES EDWARD FOSTEK ("Jim"), 81, of Fairfax Co., passed from this life on September 1, 2025. He faced a long cancer illness with courage, strength, and prayer. Jim was a graduate of Virginia Tech and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) for the Federal Government U.S. Treasury Department, Office of Inspector General, and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Jim earned multiple awards from the Treasury Department, including the Albert Gallatin Award, for exemplary service over his 35-year career. He was an avid golfer, a member of the Virginia State Golf Association, and a regular participant in Northern Virginia Senior Olympics. Jim especially enjoyed meeting new people and making time for friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Peggy Fostek, of West Point, VA and his brother, Joseph Fostek III, of Roanoke VA. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Fostek, his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Laura Fostek; his sister Mary Ann Fetterolf; brothers-in-law Frank Fetterolf and Larry Barrett; sisters-in-law Janice Fostek and Evelyn Barrett; nephews Glendon Fetterolf and Curtis Barrett; and niece Allison Barrett Deutsch.

Jim lived his life devoted to his faith in Christ, his family and friends. He will be remembered and loved for his sense of humor, kindness, and generous spirit.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at St. Mary of Sorrows Church, 5222 Sideburn Road, Fairfax, VA 22032. Interment will be private. Arrangements by Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home.
