Linda Carol Bascope (Stevens)

Linda Carol Bascope, 70, of Burke, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, at Sunrise Silas Burke, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born on March 3, 1955, in Alexandria, Virginia, Linda was the daughter of the late Ross Clinton Stevens and Joanne Elizabeth Stevens. She graduated from T.C. Williams High School, and went on to earn her associate's degree in business at Northern Virginia Community College, where her passion for dance and her dream of owning a dance studio truly began to blossom.

Linda married the love of her life, Jose Bascope, on April 8, 1978, at All Saints-Sharon Chapel Episcopal Church in Alexandria. Together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and dedication. In 1979, pursuing her lifelong passion for dance and her dream of owning a dance studio, she opened Linda's Academy of Dance in Springfield, Virginia, and later founded Expressive Dance and Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia. Through her schools, she inspired and mentored countless young dancers, sharing her love of dance with generations of students.

Linda's greatest joy was her family. She became a mother in 1982, and she poured her heart into creating lasting memories, from dance recitals to family gatherings. She was known for her warmth, her creativity, and her ability to make everyone feel special.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jose; her children, Nicole Kinard (Matthew), Bradley Bascope (Holly), Jonathan Bascope, and Brittany Bascope; her beloved grandchildren, Jacob Kinard, Logan Bascope, and Ryker Kinard; and her siblings, Gary Stevens (JoAnn) and Michelle Mathia (Mark). She was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Linda's life at Fairfax Memorial Home on Monday, September 15, 2025. Public visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a chapel service at 10:00 a.m., and burial at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Linda's memory to Inova Neuroscience: join.inova.org/neuroandspine.

She was a loving wife, mother, teacher, dancer, creator, and in the end, she was a fighter. She cared deeply for her family and every child she taught and mentored through dance, and through life. Family was at the center of her world, but her kindness extended outward and touched countless others.

Linda was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
