James Gabriel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 30, 2025.
James "Jimmy" D. Gabriel
July 28, 1967 – December 18, 2025
James "Jimmy" D. Gabriel, 58, of the Windsor and Kirkwood area, passed away unexpectedly on December 18, 2025, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Jim lived life full throttle and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, laughter, and deep devotion to his family.
Born to James N. Gabriel and Patricia Cooper, Jim grew into a man known for his grit, loyalty, and unmistakable personality. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Daniel and Lillian Cooper, and Richard and Julia Gabriel, as well as his aunt, Kathy Hitchcock, and uncle, Daniel Cooper.
Jim's greatest pride and joy were his daughters, Ashley and Danielle. He was a devoted father who would do absolutely anything for his girls and later became a proud and loving grandfather to his grandson, Gavin. Jim was also the beloved partner of Julie Rogers, with whom he shared a life filled with love, laughter, and companionship.
Jim is survived by his parents; his daughters, Ashley and Danielle; his grandson, Gavin; his partner, Julie Rogers; his sister, Amy Gabriel; his nephew, Gabriel; his niece, McKenna; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and his beloved dog, Ana. Jim often shared that he would not have been where he was today without the love and support of his Aunt Kelly and Uncle Gary Wilson, who held a special place in his life and heart forever.
A graduate of Windsor Central High School, Jim owned and operated Gabe's Automotive, Gabe's Disposal, and Gabriel Motorsports before later working as a Field Construction Manager, where he earned great respect for his work ethic and leadership.
In the racing world, Jim was well known and highly respected. He earned many wins and championships throughout the Northeast, including being crowned Mr. Dirt Sportsman of 1997. Racing was a way of life that brought him joy, camaraderie, and lifelong friendships. He also enjoyed hunting on the farm and spending many nights with his pool league, which became a second family to him.
Jim will be remembered for his big heart, contagious laugh, and true jokester spirit. He was always trying to bring laughter to those around him, and his presence could light up any room. Though his life was cut short, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Jim was someone who could be trusted as a true friend. What ever was told to him was held in confidence. He was extremely conscious, talented, and always made sure everything was done the "right way".
He was greatly respected and will be missed by many.
His humor was contagious and insightful. Every conversation was full of laughter.
Jim was greatly loved and the world is a poorer place without him.
My greatest condolences
