It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of James "Jamie" Gates, who passed away peacefully at the age of 58 on February 28, 2026, in Thomasville, AL. Born on July 14, 1967, Jamie was a precious and special man whose good heart touched everyone he met.
Jamie was a hard worker and truly enjoyed his job at Scotch Plywood Inc, making many friends along the way. He found joy in the little things and had a special love for his grandchildren, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. Most importantly, Jamie was devoted to his wife, Angela Gates. His caring nature and dedication to her were evident in everything he did.
Jamie is survived by his wife, Angela Gates; mother, Dixie Jean Gates; children, Jessie James Gates, Sr (Amanda) and Katlen Gates (Shadd Hummand); beloved grandchildren, Chrisitan Luke Gates, Dawson Elijah Gates, Jessie James Gates, Jr, with another grandbaby on the way; aunt, Mary Pruett; cousin, Jeffery James Pruett; as well as many dear friends.
He is predeceased by his father, Samuel Franklin Gates; uncle, Robert A. Pruett, Jr.; and nephew, Brenden Drinkard.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Jamie will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to shine bright in the hearts of all who knew him.
