James Gauthier Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 18, 2026.
James (Jim) Lee Gauthier, 64, of Escanaba, MI, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 13, 2026. Jim was born on March 9, 1962 in Manistique, MI and lovingly raised by his parents Allen and Sally Gauthier in Hyde, MI. Jim graduated from Escanaba High School in 1980.

A man of quiet strength who loved his family and friends. Jim, recently retired, thrived in numerous roles throughout his life and always believed in the dignity of hard work and gave 110% to every job he took on. He enjoyed watching a good movie, Godzilla and King Kong being among the many, and indulging in ice cream. He was a tried-and-true fan of his favorite football team, the Detroit Lions - no matter how good or bad their season went. He lived life on his own terms and will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Gauthier-Marsicek of Seattle, WA; his father, Allen Gauthier of Gladstone, MI; brothers, Michael Gauthier of Gladstone, MI, Scott Gauthier of Escanaba, MI; nieces, Erica and Jenna Gauthier of Escanaba, MI; and nephew, Jacob Gauthier of Escanaba, MI.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Sally Rae Gauthier and beautiful son, Hunter Lee Gauthier.

Following Jim's wishes, no public service will be held. A private celebration of Jim's life for family and close friends will take place at a later date. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
