James Wayne George Jr., aged 82, of Richland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, at Kairos Dwelling.
James was born on February 5, 1942, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late James and Madeline (Brooks) George. He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central and Western Michigan University. James married Jean Susan Gage on April 23, 1966, in Portage, Michigan. They were married for 55 years and raised three children. James retired from the United States Postal Service as a Review Clerk after 39 years of service.
James enjoyed bowling, singing in the church choir, traveling with his beloved wife Jean, spending time and vacationing with his grandchildren, and watching sports on TV.
James is survived by his children, David (Laura) George of Byron Center, Teri Dykstra of Kalamazoo, and Timothy (Tammy) George of Kalamazoo, along with grandchildren Zachary (Courtney) McConnell, James George, Brooklynne George, Duane Dykstra, and Tifani Dykstra. He is also survived by his brother, Jack (Toni) George.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean, and sisters Shirley Menck, Carol Allen, and Janet Wetherbee.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Gull Lake United Methodist Church, 8640 Gull Road, Richland, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00, with the service starting at 1:00.
A luncheon will be served immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gull Lake United Methodist Church or Kairos Dwelling.
