James D Gerwatowski

James D. Gerwatowski, age 78 of Yorkville, IL passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 11, 1947, the son of Stanley and Emily (Bogumil) Gerwatowski.

Jim was united in marriage on June 22, 1980 to Deborah Makris and they spent the next 45 years happily together. Jim was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather "papa", brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Deborah Gerwatowski; his children, Jennifer Wheeler and Matthew Gerwatowski; his grandchildren, Brayden, Logan, Mason, and Nolan Wheeler; his siblings, Susan (Peter) Sagala, Christine Gerwatowski, Roger Gerwatowski; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Emily Gerwatowski.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL. Interment will be private.

Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at the Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
