Mary G. Shrader
Born: May 11, 1931
Died: January 28, 2026
Mary G. Shrader, age 94 of Shabbona, IL, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026 at Prairie Crossing Assisted Living in Shabbona. She was born in Shabbona on May 11, 1931, the daughter of Paul and Laura (Lanning) McDonald.
Mary was united in marriage to Duane Shrader in 1951, spending many happy years together farming and operating a Kent Feed dealership until his passing in 1990. Mary was a longtime faithful member of Shabbona Community Church, serving on various committees and singing in the Church Choir. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great-grandmother! She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her children, Cynthia (Leon) Oleson of Shabbona, IL, and Diane (Charles) Wrigley of DeKalb, IL; her 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Carol Holdridge of Dekalb; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Laura.
McDonald; her husband, Duane Shrader; her brother, George and his wife MaryAnn McDonald; her sister, Nany and her husband Ernest Toughy.
A celebration of life will be held on June 14th at Rose Hill Cemetery for family and friends to pay their respects with a lunch to follow at Shabbona Community Church in Shabbona. Time will be announced in the future.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Prairie Crossing Assisted Living for their excellent care and Compassus Hospice for their thoughtful and kind efforts.
