James "Jim" Richard Gibbs Jr., 63, of Piqua, went to meet his ancestors at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy. He was born September 13, 1961 in Dayton to the late James Richard and Mary (Shafer) Gibbs Sr.
Survivors include three children, Christopher Kolsky, Natasha (Chris) Wheelock and Daniel James Gibbs all of Piqua; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two siblings, Robert Gibbs and Pamela Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie.
James was a graduate of Piqua Central High School. He had previously worked in the healthcare industry over 42 years as a STNA. He enjoyed watching STAR TREK and watching professional wrestling. He enjoyed listening to music "but none of that country crap you can keep rap too " But most of all he loved and enjoyed hanging out with his family. More than anything else, Jim was meant to be a dad and grandpa. And he was the best. None of them would be the people they are without his example, patience and deep love for all of them.
A service to honor his life will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being handled through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to anything that helps children or reforestation. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy, to be provided to the family, may be expressed through jamiesonandyannucci.com.
"Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels his was the most human."
