James J. Godin, 86, of the Town of Elderon, died on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center, Weston.

James was born on March 16, 1939, in New London. The son of Elmer and Florence (Bricko) Godin.

James was a United States Marine Veteran, serving from 1957 until 1961.

On April 23, 1966, James was united in marriage to DeAnna Konkol at St. Florian's Catholic Church in Hatley.

James worked as a welder at JI Case until his retirement. Following his retirement, he worked for the Wittenberg Birnamwood school district as a grounds keeper. James was an avid hunter and fisherman. He looked forward to the annual family fishing trip to Canada as well as chaperoning the FFA fishing trips. James enjoyed traveling, taking cruises with DeAnna and Elk hunting in Colorado. He was a very social person, participating in slow pitch ball, dice league, bowling and pitching horseshoes.

James is survived by his wife, DeAnna; three children, Randy (Renee) Godin, Timothy (Cherie) Godin and Ronda Godin-Fletcher; six grandchildren, Kyle Godin, Eric Godin, Jenna Godin, Alex Godin, Evelyn Fletcher and Dalton Fletcher; one sister, Sandy Linke and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

James was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Paul and siblings William Godin, Robert Godin, Mona Schaar and Shirley Moderson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Holy Family – St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Mark Rydell will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by the Elderon Memorial Post #8068, VFW Burial will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg from 9 AM until 1045 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in James' name to St. Isadore Council #7008 Knights of Columbus.
