James "Jim" Arthur Gordon, Jr., 81, of Zanesfield, OH, formerly of Indian Lake and Marysville, OH, passed away Friday night, February 6, 2026.

James was the son of the late Rose Elbin Gordon and James Arthur Gordon, Sr. He was born in Marysville, OH on May 2, 1944. Jim was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Danny E. Baker, Charles Terry Baker, Sandra Rae Salyer, nephews, CT Baker and Eddie Covrett. Jim married Louise Cox Hoopes on May 1, 1964, in the home of her parents, and she preceded him in death on February 7. 2025.

Jim is survived by his son, Christopher James (Linda) Gordon, of Zanesfield, OH, a grandson, Garrett Angus Gordon, and step granddaughter, Julia Curry of Bellefontaine, OH, and step grandson, Blake (Andrea) Curry of Marysville, great granddaughters, Penelope and Caroline Curry, brother-in-law, William S. (Debby) Hoopes, Jr. of Delaware, OH, sister-in-law, Jackie (Carl) Clark of South Charleston, WV. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Marlea Baker of Bellefontaine, OH, Dennie (Marcina) Baker of LaRue, OH, Linda (John) Heath and Dorothy Campbell, both of Bellefontaine, Kristy (Ronnie) Bywater and Janie Robinson, both of Marysville, Danny (Wendy) Baker of Alabama, Vicky Maggard of Marion, OH, Billy (Helen) Hoopes of Colorado Springs,CO, Carrie (Kyle) Cieliczka of York, ME, great nieces and nephew, Amy (Nick Knight) Hoopes, Kate Cieliczka and Campbell Cieliczka, several wonderful cousins, and lifelong friends.

Jim attended Marysville High School with the class of 1964 and received his diploma from American School. Jim worked at Union Rural Electric for many years, as a serviceman prior to retiring. He adored his family, especially his grandchildren, Garrett, Julia and Blake, cherished his close relationship with Chris and Linda. Jim's loves of his life were his dog, Gabby, and FISHING…anyone who knew Jim knew that fishing came first in his life, a love he acquired from his dad. Jim held the Ohio State Record for the largest gar fish gotten with a bow for many years. Jim enjoyed doing "things" for many friends and neighbors. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville, OH.
