James Gorman Obituary
JAMES O’NEAL GORMAN PASSED AWAY AT THE AGE OF 85 ON FEBRUARY 26, 2026, IN WHITNEY, TX. JAMES WAS BORN IN CALION, ARKANSAS, ON DECEMBER 12, 1940. HE WORKED FOR THE ARMY AIR FORCE EXCHANGE SERVICE AND LIVED AND TRAVELED TO MANY COUNTRIES OVERSEAS. THEN SETTLED IN DESOTO, TX IN 1979, WHERE HE OPENED DESOTO TRUE VALUE HARDWARE, WHICH HE RAN FOR TWO DECADES. IN ADDITION, HE WOULD LATER VENTURE INTO ADDITIONAL AREAS OF BUSINESS THAT WOULD INCLUDE EXECUTIVE WAY JOINT VENTURES AND M & M ADVERTISING COMPANY, FINALLY RETIRING IN 2025.
JAMES IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF 58 YEARS, VICTORIA, HIS SISTER SUE ORTIZ & HER HUSBAND RAY, HIS SONS WILLIAM NEAL GORMAN & HIS WIFE CHERI, JAMES PAUL GORMAN & HIS WIFE JENNY. GRANDKIDS AMANDA WINSLETT & HER HUSBAND BRANSON, REESE GORMAN, ELLIE KATE GORMAN, PIERCE GORMAN & WIFE HANNAH, CONNOR ARMSTRONG, PARKER GORMAN. GREAT GRANDKIDS JAYDEN HODGES, AVERY HODGES, CHRISTOPHER PAUL WINSLETT, WILLIAM JUDA WINSLETT.
HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY NUMEROUS NIECES, NEPHEWS, AND COUSINS.
HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, JAMES PAUL GORMAN, MAMIE MELVINA GALBRAITH GORMAN, AND BROTHER ELLIS RAY GORMAN.
SERVICES ARE TO BE HELD AT WEST HURTT FUNERAL HOME IN DESOTO, TX, ON MARCH 5TH AT 2 PM.
