James Gray, born on August 15, 1962, in Flatlick, Kentucky, passed away on May 24, 2025, at the Barbourville Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose passions for the outdoors, old cars, and farm work enriched the lives of those around him.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah Gray; his son, Eric Gray; and his cherished grandchildren, Kevin and Hunter Gray. Each of them will carry forward the love and memories he shared with them, continuing his legacy of kindness and dedication.
He was preceded in death by several beloved family members, including his cherished grandmother, Mamaw Hallie Gray; his mother, Shirley Gray; and his uncle, Ernest Gray. Their memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew them.
Funeral services for Mr. James Gray will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday May 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with James Warren, Rev. Terry Broughton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville City Cemetery . Pallbearers will be, Junior Miller, David Hill, Gary Smith, Anthony Brooks, Kevin Gray, Bobby Washham, Curtis Gray, and Richard Warren. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
