James Philip Green

James Philip Green,87, died at Kalkaska Medical's Eden Center on February 4, 2026. A former Marine, grocer and avid outdoorsman, James, (Jim), spent over fifty years in the community of Kalkaska. Jim served in the Kalkaska Village Council, a Kalkaska County Commissioner and the President of Chain of Lakes Little League. He cherished his days coaching Kalkaska teams. Born on April 10, 1938, in Muskegon Michigan. He leaves behind his son, James Philip Jr., (Jayme) of Grand Haven, Michigan. His daughter Gwen Catt (Glen) of Charlevoix, Michigan. Jim was the proud grandfather to Olivia, Tanner, Gabrielle, Parker and Brokton. He was blessed with great-grandchildren, Reece, Rhodes, Scottlyn, and Charlotte. He also loved his nephews and nieces, William and Joseph Green, Kimberly Garvey-Cucciniello, and James and Jason Grady. Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Arlene and all his siblings, Betty, Lyle, Gilbert Jr., Maxine, Phyllis and William. The family would like to thank Eden Center and Hospice for their exceptional care. A family service will be held this summer.
