James Dodd Griffith, age 74, passed away on February 20, 2026. He was born on February 26, 1951, in
Spokane, Washington, to the late Joseph Griffith and Alice (née Cross).
Jim was a devoted father to his children Adam (Clare) Griffith, Aaron (Kimberly) Griffith, and Amanda (Scotty) Garcia. He treasured his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life: Solomon and Adeline Griffith, Noah, Vivian and Benjamin Griffith, and Shaun Garcia. He is also survived by his siblings, Pete Griffith, Marilyn Norman, and Tom Griffith, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, brother and sisters in law, and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Linda Griffith (née Sabo), whom he loved very deeply.
Jim was a man of wisdom and intellect. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College, where he proudly doubled majored in History and Political Science. His love for learning stayed with him throughout his life, reflected in his passion for history, travel, and exploring new places. Jim especially cherished visiting the ocean and spending time on the beach. He also had a fondness for movies and entertainment and was known for his wonderful sense of humor.
After moving quite often during his youth, Jim eventually found a true home in
Cleveland, Ohio, a place he grew to love deeply. A devoted Cleveland sports fan, he followed his teams with unwavering loyalty through every high and every low.
Jim was energized by conversation. He enjoyed engaging deeply with people of various backgrounds and personalities. This passion led Jim to a successful career in sales and sales management within the steel manufacturing and distribution industry.
Grounded firmly in his Christian faith, Jim dedicated many years to teaching Sunday school to high school students and serving faithfully as an elder. He was heavily involved with the Indian Guides and Princesses program, where he served as the Longhouse Chief. Jim took great pride in fostering strong relationships between fathers and their children, investing his time and heart into helping families grow closer. He was also a devoted animal lover, especially fond of his dogs who were constant companions.
He touched countless lives with his patience, kindness, and steady wisdom. His gentle guidance helped shape young hearts, giving them a foundation of compassion and faith that will continue to ripple forward through the lives he influenced.
Jim will be remembered for his charisma, his intelligence, his faith, and the strength with which he loved his family and community. His smiling and joyful presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at:

Inurnment for only family and close friends will take place the following day.
