Ivan Anthony Griffith, 83, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 22, 2026, at Providence Care Center after a brief illness.

Ivan was born September 15, 1942, in Brookville, Indiana, to Martha Griffith.

Ivan was a proud veteran of the United States Army, faithfully serving his country from 1962 to 1965 while stationed in Germany. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to the City of Sandusky, retiring from the Streets Department. Never one to slow down, Ivan continued working for an additional 12 years in the Parks Department Greenhouse after his retirement.

He was a member of the Former Sandusky Baptist Temple. In his spare time, Ivan enjoyed fishing, camping, and taking leisurely drives around Sandusky. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his friends.

Ivan is survived by his best friends, Tom and Karen Beaver; his aunt, Shirley Griffith; and many other cousins and dear friends.

In addition to his mother, Ivan is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley M. Griffith, in 2004 and brother, Ken "Skippy" Griffith.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Wally Gilbert presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
