Mr. James A. Grimsley Sr., 87, passed away Monday, November 25 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
James was born in Cumberland County, NC on November 12, 1937, son to the late James Davis Grimsley and Marie Hicks Grimsley. James served in the US Navy and owned a produce stand in Fayetteville until retirement. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Grimsley, a son, Robert Grimsley, a great grandchild, Angel Nevaeh Brooks and a brother, Reuban Grimsley.
He is survived by his son, James A. Grimsley Jr. of Hope Mills; a daughter, Mary Brooks of Fayetteville; a brother, Joe Grimsley (Junie) of Fayetteville; 3 sisters, Peggy Matthews (Danny) and Nancy Moore, all of Fayetteville, Joanne Murray (Marvin) of Austin, TX; 6 grandchildren, Robert Grimsley, Elizabeth Grimsley, James Grimsley, Jamie Van Rassen, Michael Brooks and Jerry Brooks; 13 great grandchildren, Kyleigh James, Ryan Van Rassen, Aiden Van Rassen, Ethan Thompson, Bella Grimsley, Kayden Brooks, Riley Brooks, Arianna Brooks, Bentley Brooks, Teagan Brooks, Lydia Brooks, Maeve Brooks and Gideon Brooks; and a host of extended family members and friends that will greatly miss him.
Visitation will be 12:00-1:30 pm Monday, December 2, 2024, at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Funeral Services will begin at 1:30 pm following the visitation with Pastor Bruce Suggs officiating.
Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
The family will receive friends following the service at Crystal Springs Chapel Fellowship Hall, 1400 Crystal Springs Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306.
