James R. Grove Sr.

James Richard Grove, Sr., son of the late Hazel M. & Kenneth F. Grove, of Stewartstown, Pa. known to friends and family as Jim, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, at the age of 78. Jim was born on March 22, 1946, and lived a life full of love and dedication.
Jim is survived by his brother Kenneth J. Grove (Wife Sharon) his beloved wife of 56 years, Sandra Jean Warner-Grove; his children, Jamie Grove-Ferguson (husband James), Tracy Bittner (husband Michael), James R. Grove, Jr. (wife Wendy), Jason Grove (wife Christine); and his cherished grandchildren, Cassidy Bittner and Jacob Grove.
A proud veteran, Jim served in the army from 1966 to 1968 earning the Expert Rifle and National Service Defense medals. He was a dedicated member of Carpenters Local 191 and retired in 2006 as a Millwright.
Jim was a self-taught blacksmith, who had a remarkable talent for creating anything he set his mind to. He loved spending time with his family and throughout his life has enjoyed many different hobbies and interests like, riding motorcycles with friends and his children, going on tractor rides with his grandson, playing the banjo and has always had an extreme interest and talent for target shooting. And even though Jim was retired, he never stopped working around the house, it was something he loved.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held in the spring for close friends and family. The family extends a special thank you to Kay Flayharty and the late Clyde E. Flayharty for their generous contribution to the services.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
