James Edward Gulliford, 63, of Las Vegas formerly of Gibson City passed away Monday January 29, 2024 in Las Vegas. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held 10:00am-11:30am Saturday February 24, 2024 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City. A time of sharing, story-telling and honoring Jim will follow.
Jim was born May 1, 1960 in Urbana, Illinois. A son of James and Barbara (Thomsen) Gulliford. He married Melissa, his best friend, on October 9, 2023 in Las Vegas.
He is survived by his wife Melissa Gulliford, his son Quest Gulliford, daughter Capri Gulliford all of Las Vegas, step children Megan, Maely, Evan and Erik as well as four grandchildren. His brother Brian (Jessie) Gulliford of Las Vegas, step brothers Gary (Julie) Coit of Gibson City, Tony (Tonietta) Coit of Sarasota, Florida, and step sister Vicki Kirkpatrick of Elliott and his Aunt Betty Shaw of Gibson City.
He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Coit, brother Christopher Gulliford and step father Don “Pickle” Coit.
Jim was a 1978 graduate of Gibson City High School. He was a member of one of the best basketball teams in Greyhound History and Slide and Roll were witness to that. He worked for American Airlines for thirty-five years.
His smile, sense of humor, and willingness to help a friend in need will be missed. Please stop by if you can. Share a sweet, funny, or otherwise interesting experience you had with Jim “Elmer” Gulliford.
