James H. “Butch” Pratt, 73, passed away in a car accident on December 26, 2024. He was born in Bristol, Virginia on December 21, 1951, and resided in Kingsport, Tennessee. He retired as the owner/operator of Kustom Kar, and he loved to play golf, cards, and spend time with family. You could find him enjoying his coffee each morning on the front porch swing and sharing a Dr. Enuf soda with any friend who stopped by.
He was preceded in death by his wife Delia “Dee” Pratt, mother Kathleen Greer, brother Dennis “Dink” Pratt, and sister Kathy Buchalla. He is survived by his sisters Shirley Holmes (husband Big E), and Peggy Bowman; sons, Jamie Pratt (wife Caroline), David Boggs (wife Rachel), Kiser Boggs, and Shane Boggs (wife Christa).
Also known as “Papaw”, he leaves behind his grandchildren; Kylie and Jacob Pratt, Joe Boggs (wife Brooke) and Emily Stephenson (husband Dustin), Kendall, Morgan, and Seth Boggs; his great-grandchildren, Elise and Rhett Boggs, and Jacob, Lee, and Ruth Stephenson. Butch was a beloved uncle to Katie Holmes, Angie Simerly, Tracy Pratt, Tim Pratt, and Jason Pratt.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2024, in the chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2630 Hwy. 75, Blountville, Tennessee. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Jerry Jones, will be held at 10:30 a.m.
