James "Pete" P. Habel Jr.

James "Pete" P. Habel, Jr., age 57, of 2204 Crestwyck Circle, Mount Joy, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late James P. Sr., and Gloria Mae Abel Habel. He and his wife, Cynthia J. Helm Habel, celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in August 2013. Pete retired in 2012 from Armstrong World Industries following 37 years of employment as a floor inspector. He was the founder and creator of "Ballstat", which is a baseball statistic computer program sold worldwide. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Ashley Mae Habel, of Fayetteville, NC; a son, Andrew James Paul Habel, of Elizabethtown, PA; one grandson, Christian "Pookie" Soto, and two brothers: Marlyn P. Habel, of Lancaster, PA and Ricky E. Habel, of Quarryville, PA. A brother, Michael S. Habel preceded Pete in death.
