James Michael Hampton, affectionately known to many as Mike and to a select few as "Fly," passed away peacefully in Bowling Green, Kentucky on October 4, 2025. He was born on July 8, 1953, in Bowling Green and spent his life in close proximity to the place he called home.

Mike enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring from Western Kentucky University where he worked in HVAC. He also embraced his passion for mechanics as a part-time mechanic, using his skills to work on cars, a hobby that brought him immense joy. His love for automobiles extended beyond his profession; he thoroughly enjoyed attending car shows, where he could connect with fellow enthusiasts.

In addition to his mechanical interests, Mike was an avid fan of Nascar racing, with Dale Earnhardt being his favorite driver. He always looked forward to the thrill of the race, sharing these moments with family whenever possible. Dining out and spending quality time with loved ones were cherished activities that Mike valued deeply.

Mike is remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and brother. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Darlene Hampton, as well as his brother Richard Hampton (Debbie). His legacy continues through his daughters, Melissa Manning (Pete) and Stephanie O'Neal-Boyle (Dana), along with his cherished grandchildren, Devin, Casey, and Kendall.

Though he is no longer with us, Mike's warmth, love for family, and passion for his interests will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Dessie Hampton. James Michael Hampton’s life was a testament to commitment, enthusiasm, and above all, love for his family and passions. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
